The Warm Hearts, Toasty Toes sock drive begins!
5th annual sock drive seeks to collect 5,000 pairs of socks to donate to local charities
Icon is excited to announce the launch of the 5th annual Warm Hearts, Toasty Toes sock drive!
Since 2009, Icon volunteers have paired with local Girl Scout troops to stage collection events throughout the months of November and December, seeking new socks to donate to those in need across SW Idaho and into Oregon. Last year, the sock drive smashed all previous records by collecting a stunning 3,612 pairs of new socks, which were donated to the Women’s and Children’s Alliance, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, the Boys and Girls Club of Ada County and the Boise VA homeless program.
But why socks, you ask?
“We created the Warm Hearts, Toasty Toes sock drive five years ago because while the communities we serve have a number of major events to collect food, coats, shoes and other items for those in need, one thing we heard from a number of local charities is that they saw a major shortage of socks,” said Connie Miller, president and CEO of Icon and the creator of the sock drive. “Many of these nonprofit organizations have to make tough decisions in spending precious funds on new socks and we saw an opportunity to help out in a big way.”
To donate to the sock drive, members and individuals from the community can drop off new pairs of socks at any Icon branch in Idaho or Oregon or at the Girl Scouts headquarters in Boise. If a financial donation is more convenient, 100 percent of proceeds donated will be used to purchase new socks.

Introducing Icon’s Second Chance Mortgage program
At Icon, your membership means you deserve more than a generic, cookie-cutter experience when making major financial decisions. We also understand that life can be messy and everything doesn’t always work out the way you want it to when it comes to financial ups and downs.
But does that mean you don’t deserve a second chance? Of course not!
With that in mind, we’re excited to let you know about our Second Chance Mortgage program. This unique home loan solution provides a potential path to a mortgage for those who might not qualify for a traditional home loan.
Here’s a testimonial from a recent member who purchased her new home the Second Chance Mortgage program:
“I would not hesitate to recommend Icon to anyone! Thank you again for taking a chance on me. I won’t let you down. I am still in disbelief and am sure it will hit me tonight when I finally get to have some quiet time to take it all in. Many, many thanks!” – Icon member

Icon hires four new superstars!
W. Paul Gephart, CPA – Chief Financial Officer
Paul comes to Icon with more than 25 years of experience as a leader in banking and finance. After spending the past four years with a major regional bank, Paul wanted to embrace a new opportunity in leading Icon’s financial efforts as we grow in the community. Paul holds a degree in accounting from Duquesne University and a master’s degree from Georgia State University.
Julia Rhoads – Whitewater Branch manager
Julia joins Icon after spending more than 25 years of her career working with major credit unions in sunny San Diego. After growing up with lots of animals and acreage in quiet, rural California, she chose Icon and Idaho to return to her roots while continuing her career of member service in the credit union movement. As an animal enthusiast, Julia also brought four horses, four goats and five dogs to Idaho along with her and has a passion for horseback riding and caring for animals in general. She chose Icon because she was instantly amazed by the culture and the company’s ability to balance fun with a serious passion for member service.
Bryan Holjeson – Meridian Branch manager
After a career in firefighting and police work, Bryan joined the financial industry with a major bank five years ago and hasn’t looked back. Over that time, Bryan developed a strong desire to serve his clients but desired to get away from the big box culture and work with an organization with deeper community ties and a “practice what you preach” approach in terms of member service. Needless to say he’s found his home at Icon! Bryan lives in Boise with his wife and three children and loves all things outdoors, including hiking, camping and bow hunting.
Dylan Stocker – Solution Center manager
After shattering records as a customer service leader at one of the big banks, Dylan had a strong desire to move to a credit union with a strong internal culture, a better relationship with members and a dedication to the community. Dylan prides himself in his ability to deliver rapid solutions to our members, and he’ll be sharing that passion and leadership with our growing Solution Center (Icon’s internal call center).
Please join us in welcoming these three new managers to the Icon family!
