This ad tells our version of what it’s like to benefit from Icon membership for the average member, but now we want to hear your story!
Whatever it may be – from saving money on an auto refinance to signing up for your first savings account before you could walk (or having your parent sign up for you, that is), we want to hear your story.
Email your story to email@example.com, or better yet, write it up on a note and deliver it to your nearest branch! With your permission, we’ll publish your story on our website and share it for the world to hear.
Are you getting the most out of your mortgage experience?
If it’s been a few years since you last took a look at your mortgage options, we suggest taking another look today! Mortgage rates are incredibly low, giving you amazing purchase and refinance flexibility. Consider the following examples*:
A $200,000 mortgage at an interest rate of 3.50% saves approximately $41,000 over the life of a 30-year loan compared to the same mortgage at 4.50%
Refinancing at a lower rate can reduce monthly payments and shorten the life of the loan at the same time!
To speak with a mortgage professional about your options, click here or call us at 344-7948!
*Examples are hypothetical and for illustrative purposes. Please contact a mortgage loan officer for actual interest rates and annual percentage rates available. Icon Credit Union is an Equal Housing Opportunity lender.
Enjoy 25,000 fee-free ATMs nationwide
Did you know Icon members enjoy free access to more than 25,000 ATMs nationwide?
That includes more than 50 in the Treasure Valley alone (and three more in La Grande). That’s twice as many as the biggest bank in the area!
To find your nearest ATM, simply visit www.moneypass.com and search with your zip code. You can also download the MoneyPass ATM app on your Android or iPhone to use your GPS coordinates to find the nearest free ATM.
Four tips for students heading to college
If you’re a student (or have one in the family), summer is the perfect time to get your finances in order so when the time comes, you can spend your time studying instead of navigating financial hurdles – often from another state. Here are some tips for students looking to reduce financial homework this fall:
Set up a campus checking account for easy deposits/withdrawals and ATM refunds for non-Icon ATMs
Enroll in Online Banking, Mobile Deposit and Bill Pay to make remote deposit and bill payment as easy as a few taps of the finger
Download the MoneyPass ATM app so you know where the fee-free ATMs are around your new home
Need to start building credit? Open a Share Secured Visa credit card or line of credit to begin building a healthy credit score
If you can’t make it to a branch, simply visit www.iconcreditunion.org/applynow to open a new checking account, enroll in Online Banking and even apply for a new Visa card or line of credit. Remember these few tips and come December, the only thing giving you a headache will be finals!
Watch out for counterfeit lottery schemes
Remember what they say about things that are too good to be true the next time you get a letter informing you that you’ve won a lottery! In fact, if you receive any letters or solicitations telling you you’ve won money, you can do what a recent La Grande member did and either bring the letter to our attention, or simply throw it away. Unless you’ve purchased the ticket yourself, it’s likely a scam!
Here’s what to look for:
Promises of thousands (or more) in lottery winnings
Typos and grammatical errors
Improper date syntax, i.e. “3 July 2016” versus “July 3, 2016”
Fake or suspicious addresses (use Google Maps to pinpoint addresses)
Anything with a foreign address – foreign lotteries are illegal!
We know, it’s exciting to hear you’ve won money. But don’t let the stars blind you – it’s a scam and you’ll be better off throwing that piece of mail in the garbage. Or better yet, the shred/recycle bin!
