Introducing your Icon EMV debit card

We’re excited to let you know beginning March 24, 2016, all new Icon debit cards offer EMV technology, helping make your transactions more secure than ever. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Your new EMV debit card will arrive when your existing Icon debit card expires.
  • Continue to use your existing debit card until the expiration date – there’s no need to make a special trip for a replacement.
  • Your existing card is as secure as ever before.

While a few things will change (like ‘inserting’ your card instead of swiping) with your new card, EMV cards still have a magnetic stripe and the number on the front to accommodate retailers who don’t offer EMV readers yet. Plus, shopping online remains unchanged.

And rest assured, all Icon cards offer Zero Liability Protection, so you’re not liable for unauthorized transactions if a card is stolen, lost or fraudulently used. Of course, it is important to promptly report a lost or stolen card or any suspicious transactions. See the applicable agreement for your account on liability and reporting requirements for unauthorized transactions.

For more information on the EMV conversion, please visit www.iconcreditunion.org/emv-chip-card.

Member Testimonial in Meridian

At Icon, our value is rooted deeply in your member experience. And we love hearing member service stories that make our efforts worthwhile! Here’s one story from a member who recently had an awesome experience at our Meridian branch. If you have a story for us, we’d love to hear that too!

Dear Mrs. Connie,

This is a courtesy note to advise you that your people in the Icon office in Meridian are sure nice to work with! The manager took the courtesy to write me a personal letter because I’m illiterate in a text-message business and/or email, nor do I have any interest in the such – too old fashioned I guess! They are the most helpful and courteous on all issues and situations. Once, one of your tellers told me she would waive a fee if I paid on my account on a certain day. So anyway thanks very much!

Roy S.

Meridian

Watch out for counterfeit check fraud schemes

Sigh … the scammers are at it again! Will they ever give it a rest? Probably not, but it sure would make banking easier! This time it’s a counterfeit check scheme where checks fit this description:

  • Sent to individuals using the Internet to sell an item or apply for a job or loan.
  • Written for more than expected, usually between $1,300-8,800.
  • Sent by UPS, with some of the letters listing a return address in Brooklyn, NY or California.

To help bust the fraudsters, follow these guidelines when conducting business or applying for a job or loan online:

  • Don’t accept a check from a person or business you don’t know without verifying the check is real and the funds are available.
  • Don’t respond to suspicious or “too good to be true” offers.
  • Know who you are dealing with and ask for a phone number so you can check the validity of a person or transaction.

If you need more information on detecting fraud, give us a call at (208) 344-7948 or visit your local branch and our friendly member service representatives will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Icon donates more than 2,000 pairs of socks to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Ada County

Our first donations from the Warm Hearts, Toasty Toes sock drive have completed, and we have to say donating thousands of socks to kids in need at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Ada County is one of our favorite events of the year. This year, more than 100 kids were in attendance as Connie Miller, Icon’s president and CEO, told them about the sock drive and Icon’s commitment to the community. These socks will be distributed to thousands of kids across Ada county, helping keep those little toes nice and cozy through the rest of the year!

$10,000 donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of SW Idaho

Remember back in November, December and January when Icon held our annual Skip-a-Pay event? Well, one of our first big charitable donations as a result of your contributions is officially on the books!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of SW Idaho partners kids in need with quality mentors across SW Idaho and our donation of $10,000 will help fund hundreds of matches over the coming year. Thank you to our members for participating in this great program!
